SAM LAMACCHIA
DISTRICT 2
OGDENSBURG, LISBON

Picture

ABOUT SAM

Sam has dedicated his entire professional life to serving his neighbors.  He is running to become the next member of the St. Lawrence County Legislator, representing District 2.

An educator by profession, Sam taught as a vocational teacher SLPC-Children/Youth Service, and a Physical Education teacher in Iowa.  He has served as a high school administrator and as the Campus Director at SUNY Potsdam. That career spanned 36 years.  He also served as a Steward and Local President with PEF for 22 years while teaching. That’s just the beginning…

During his distinguished career, Sam served as an Ogdensburg City Councilor for 8 years, as an Ogdensburg City School Board member for 4 years, as Chair and on the Ogdensburg Zoning Board for 6 years, as Chair of the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Board for 6 years and as a Board member for an additional 4 years.

Sam has also served as a high school and collegiate basketball official for 38 years, as a high school track & field official for 45 years and as a high school softball official for 11 years. During his tenure as an athletic official, he served as a Board President for 23 years and as a contract negotiator for 15 years.  As he often says, people have had more than ample opportunity to yell at him early and often.

His most notable success in public service is undoubtedly the leadership and vision that he provided in lengthening the runway and new terminal at the Ogdensburg International Airport while serving as Chair of the OBPA Board.  During that time, he also oversaw strategies that led to the creation of more than 200 jobs in the Ogdensburg industrial parks.

WHY SAM IS RUNNING

Sam is looking forward to transitioning his leadership and track record of success from the city that he loves to the expansiveness of St. Lawrence County as a whole.  He remains devoted to improving mobility options for residents and upgrading our county and regional infrastructure.

Sam’s resilience to impulse, his clear common sense and his positive approach to problem solving have contributed to his success in life and in his service to the public.  He is a gracious and respectful gentleman and with your vote he hopes to share some of his learned wisdom with the other incoming members of the St. Lawrence County legislature.
